Our Creamer Kits continue to be one of our best selling kits and we are sure it's because it's like 2 products in one. Not only can you make little fantastic fizzing bombs but they also contain skin nourishing butters for a moisturing soak. Bath Muffins and Truffles are relatively new on the scene, they are tricky to make but it's a delight to see them in their little cases and they can be decorated with whipped Cocoa butter and sprinkles bought from any supermarket. You can also make truffles and creamers in some of our smaller silicone moulds - just press the mixture into the mould and pop it in the fridge to cool and harden.

Basic Recipe and Instructions

This recipe is provided to give you a very basic idea of the process involved in this craft.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate; Citric Acid; Water & Fragrance

Optional Ingredients: Colour; Almond Oil; Petals or Sprinkles; Butters

  1. You can use any amount of Sodium you like - 100g will make one large bath muffins. 1 Kilo Of Sodium will make about 15 large bath Muffins.
  2. You will need half the amount of Citric to your sodium - so, if you have 500g of Sodium you'll need 250g Citric. Sieve these into a bowl.
  3. Melt your butters and let them cool a little so you aren't adding hot butter to the sodium & citric mix.
  4. For muffins with a butter topping, you want to set the butter to one side until your bath muffins are hard - if your butter hardens too much, melt it again, on a gentle heat.
  5. For truffles and creamers you can add the butter to your sodium & citric mixture now.
  6. Add your fragrance - for 500g Sodium you should use about 5ml.
  7. Add colour powder, oil and petals/sprinkles if you are using them.
  8. Stir the mixture until the butter and oils have been incorporated fully.
  9. Then stirring vigorously, spray the mixture with water. You really need a spritz bottle or atomiser for this or the mixture may begin fizzing.
  10. The mixture should begin to 'clump' together as the sodium absorbs the water. The mixture needs to be damp, but NOT wet.
  11. You can test the mixture by squeezing a handful in your hand and dropping it back into the bowl. If it is still powdery you need more water; If it drops into the bowl in one lump (sticking together) it is probably ready to mould.
  12. If you are using a 2 part round/heart mould, fill each half with mixture (over fill it and press the mix into the mould as you work).
  13. Press the 2 halves together until the mixture sticks to itself - to form one solid shape.
  14. You should then be able to remove one half of the mould - turn it over gently - and then the other.
  15. Your bath bomb is very delicate at this point so you need to place it on a solid surface to dry. You can use kitchen towel  to protect the surface.
  16. If using muffin or truffle cases press the mixture down into them (not too hard or the case will collapse). You can over fill the cases and then round off the tops like a cake.
  17. The bath bomb needs to be left overnight to harden and dry - although it can probably be safely moved after a couple of hours.
  18. For Muffins, the cocoa butter needs to be the consistency of butter that has been left at room temperature (cocoa butter has a high melting point so it should be warm but not liquid). Sometimes it is necessary to melt it at a very low temperature and then leave it to cool at room temperature for a time.
  19. You need an electric whisk to whip the cocoa butter until it becomes pale and looks a bit like whipped double cream - it should rise to soft peaks.
  20. You can then put it in a piping bag and pipe onto your bath bomb muffins. Alternatively you can simply spread the mixture on top of the muffins like icing.
